Beaulieu International Autojumble 2012 report

I was invited to the Beaulieu International Autojumble by Vintage and Veteran to run a display and sketch on their stand for the weekend. This was my first time at Beaulieu and it's  true what they say about it, it is huge and people are selling everything imaginable, along side a huge auction by Bonhams on the Saturday and many other dealers displaying their vehicles. 

I spent most of the weekend on the Vintage and Veteran stand sketching the incredible array of bikes, with the occasional walk round the jumble resisting a purchase. Even though I had spent the previous Sunday with Vintage and Veteran (see previous report, Founders Day) the bikes on display were different showing what an extensive  and ever changing stock they have. Here are the sketches from the weekend along with some photos of my favourite vehicles from the weekend.

1903 Royal Enfield

I was very happy that Vintage and Veteran bought this bike along to Beaulieu, as I got to spend a fair amount of time with it over the weekend. I decided not to only sketch a full view but add some vignettes of the front brake, Brooks saddle, the engine and the Royal Enfield badge.

1920 FN 4 Cylinder 

This was the star of the Vintage and Veteran stand over the weekend. A fantastic example of a FN 4 cylinder shaft driven machine, considering manufacturers were only just working out how to build motorcycles the amount of ingenuity in this machine is pretty mind blowing.

 On the other side there are 4 priming cups which are used when starting up are the carburettor is lower than the pistons it needs a top up to get the fuel flowing.

1925 Henley 550cc (Blackburne engine)

A rare bike indeed these were only made for a short period and apparently are very nice bikes to ride.

Founders Day 2012 report

I was invited by the ever supportive Vintage and veteran to run a display and sketch on their stand at Founders Day at Stanford Hall on the 2nd September. Founders day has a very extensive bike jumble and is well worth a visit. I had a great day sketching the ever changing roster of bikes Vintage and Veteran have, as well as chatting to people and drinking a lot of tea. Here are the from the day:

These Rovers are few and far between these days and this is a fantastic example. I particularly liked the  way the oil pump is incorporated into the fuel tank.

All original condition and in running and road legal condition. I fell in love with this bike and would have snapped it up if I had the cash, as it has so much history and character there is no need to touch it.

Sports Car

Spirited and speed demon are all words used to describe sports cars, which are essentially two-door automobiles that are designed for high speeds, great power and smashing good looks. The manufacture of the modern-day Sports Car began only after 1945, when the economy started booming, technology developed dramatically and better roads were being built. They came in various shapes like convertibles, roadsters, coupes, grand tourers and sedans. Sports car lovers are either devoted to timeless classics that have been souped up for current times, or are trendsetters looking for the latest kind of exotic car.

From powerful purring beauties like the Mercedes Benz SLK 350 to thundering thrillers like the Ford Mustang V-8, you can choose a sports car that matches your personality. In fact, sports cars are as much about personality as they are about performance - smooth aerodynamic bodies of carbon fiber, chrome pipes and fittings, rich leather upholstery, wide wheels, shiny wooden panels and snazzy paint jobs.

Different brands of sports cars adopt different principles of design. Some cars may be light in order to achieve greater acceleration, others may boast of extremely powerful engines for better car handling and performance, while still others may stress safety and comfort rather than style. The majority of contemporary sports cars have front-wheel drives as opposed to rear-wheel drives, which were more common in the earlier generation of sports cars. Many cars also have the engine in the center, driving the rear wheels, which is unique to sports cars. In these cars, the engine is placed behind the driver, at the middle of the chassis. Porsche is the only sports car that has the engine mounted at the rear, driving the rear wheels. This aspect is a crucial part of car design, as it affects the maneuverability or handling of the car, which is critical at high speeds.

Mustang

Taking the names of most influential cars running on the roads, one will hardly forget to name Mustang. With its splendid looks and stylish appearance, the Mustang has certainly won hearts of millions across the globe.

However, one need not forget that, no accolades would have been possible without the contribution of Ford, which provided its excellently innovated automobile parts to bring Mustang to such a height in the automobile industry.

Famously known for the durability, fortitude, permanence and reliability, Mustang parts always come in sturdy conditions. Ford Mustang had made models for many companies to demonstrate best quality and excellent Mustang parts and cars. Mustang parts will certainly give strength and excellent look to your Mustang. However, the key element of Mustang parts is the safety and style they provide.

If you own a vehicle, some or other day, it grows old and you either sell it or go for modifications.
